Erik Ormosen, 35, known 'round these parts as "ErikTheRed". I live in Marysville, Ca, about 35 miles north of Sacramento. I'm married to a very understanding wife who also enjoys VW's, and I have 3 daughters who are 14, 10, and 9 months as of this writing. I'll spare you my physical dimensions.
I entered the V-dub scene back in 1989 with the purchase of my 1968 Bug, been full-thottle "into" it ever since. I've owned approximately 30 VW's since then, including Bugs as early as a 1955 oval and as late as a 1970 baja, several Ghia's from a '58 low-light to a 1966 coupe, some Busses ranging from 1959 to 1967, and a 67 Fastback. I've been a member of several VW clubs including Kustom Kreations, Tiny Toyz, Club-Vee-Dub, and Golden Valley Volkswagens. I've drag raced with the PRA, NASA (2003 Rookie of the Year), and at other tracks just for fun. I first raced my 66 Ghia for a couple years, then for only a handful of events I raced my '56 chassis car. I sold the chassis car to build my current race car, the Warbird. I consider myself an "intermediate" with respect to mechanical ability and knowledge.
I remain active in the community in all ways possible, attend every event I can afford to get to, and am known somewhat as a "big-mouth" on the forums.... a title I hold near-and-dear to my heart. Ultimate Aircooled is the collaborative brain-child of both myself and Brian Watts, and with help from Gary Henry, Jason Culley, and submissions from Eric Madsen, Greg Urrutia, and many others, we aspire to be the premier media in the ACVW high-performance community.
Writing is a passion of mine. Not sure I'm great at it, but its something I enjoy very much. Writing is my main contribution to Ultimate Aircooled so please enjoy and don't throw too many rubber chickens.
