I deceided a number of years ago to do my own take on a performance distributor. My thought was “hey, i have a few of these laying around and use a cd box anyway so….. why not!”

Start out life as a stock 1961’ish Bosch unit which gets heavily modded and becomes a “NEWKFIRE”!

I dont sell these really. I just like the idea of keepin a good vw part on my car if/when I can. I "CAN" build one for you if you wish using your good core and trigger. This is more of a racer part than a cruiser/street car part although I have been messing with a vacuum version a little as well. Send me a message if you wanna or come see me at one of the races..

My theory is why not use it and save 150 bux over a MSD when you really use the msd for a trigger only in a race car?

I'm tellin' you guys...... Newk is one DAMN FRIGGIN' SMART feller. Comes up with stuff all the time but mostly keeps it to himself. If he'd market his ideas, he might not have to work his 9-to-5 anymore.

Without divulging his proprietary secrets, let me just tell you--- Jeff has MANY exclusive ideas that he has/is developing, testing, and using. I think I know alittle something about VW's....... and then I talk to Jeff. ;)

You really cant mistake them with a 019, 010 009 etc... they are MUCH larger in diameter and have a huge pod on the side...

My good buddy Jack (JayCee ent) showed me how to modify these distributor years ago
I was modifying them for myfriends and may have one r two in my garage. If you guys are interested i'll submit details and images.

Cancel, my last reply. Don't want to step on any toes. It's no big secret in So.Cal many
Drag Cars are running the systems. Only trying to help someone like somebody helped me.

I think people just reacted because Newk just offered up that he built these, he never tried to act like he invented them or it was a secret process.

No sweat, were glad your here as we are of Newk

No big deal Carson. If you wanna post pics of what you do thats fine. I am a big fan of big Jack and appreciate everything he has and is still doing for us all. It just appeared to me that you were claiming I was stealing Jack's idea. I dont "steal" ideas from anyone and if we do the same conversion then I am surprised and guess I should pay closer attention.... As far as I know he does a crank trigger dist conversion which you are correct in being very popular but thats not what my deal is. You do NOT need a trigger on this one and I have been doing this conversion a long time as well...

Hopefully I was wrong in assuming and if so then I appologise.
