The hurst Indy?? :what: that was the lowest of the low they were cheap. I still have 2 hurst that I bought back in the 70's I think our cost was around $15.00-$20.00 back then.

Sorry though I love my Berg :read: and want another for my street car

I love Berg shifters and all their products, really. It kind of pisses me off when people bitch about Berg prices given the high level of quality you get for what you pay. I worked for the Bergs very briefly about six and a half years ago, when I was fresh out of college, and can honestly say that you get what you pay for. It's a relatively small operation compared to bigger outfits with larger staffing and higher volume, so I would say the prices are pretty reasonable, all things considered.

But I forgot, Volkswagen people (by and large, as a general rule) are cheap... :D

Best shifters made for H-pattern, IMO. I actually have three or four from years past. Including the one from the Baron( 9in straight finger grip old school handle) I bought my first one from Gene himself in 1987 right after he gave me a tour of the shop, it is one of my most memorable VW moments. Gene was my inspiration to kick V8 butt.

I obviously keep hearing great things about their shifters. I also worked for them for a short time, and vividly remember their shifter displays in the front entry way. Too cool! My car came w/ a Scat unit, it's working quite well. I'm sure I'll sell a nut for a Berg someday soon. ;)

Last year, i went to an old hippies house. Met the guy and he was way nice, and into old school speed parts. bergs, DDS, JSC and all the others. I was looking for a door handle, and we walked into a shack. stumbling around, i kicked a shifter, and was like "SOB". i remember looking down and smiling. It was a small script gene berg shifter with 60% plate, OG handle, and a non torn boot. I looked at him, and said "hey....how much you want for this old thing?" He looked at me and said, " eh, for that old thing....$15 and it's yours." i gave him $20, and a hand shake, and never looked back.

These shifters will ast a lifetime, and they can't be beat. The price..( although i don't speak from experience) is high due to quality, but if you buy one, you won't buy another.

Im a lucky kid. ;)
