I thought I should bring up this and probably a few more pictures later on very different kind of VW T1 and T2/4 based engines.
The fantastic effort of Brian Hyerstay, his engine and delivery of function in his car with records, is amazing!
So I was inspired to share some other machine history.
This engine is not bad either.
It is not billet like Brians but rather based on Ford BDA cylinder heads.
The builder is Karl Erik Nilsson and he did this in 1975.
He raced RallyCross and this was a lot of inspiration to me.
Even if I took the choice of Porsche 911 head conversion instead a few years later.
+10 000 rpm is nice in a VW.
Cooling barrels, cam drive and many more items were cast or machined by Karl Erik.
