I thought I should bring up this and probably a few more pictures later on very different kind of VW T1 and T2/4 based engines.
The fantastic effort of Brian Hyerstay, his engine and delivery of function in his car with records, is amazing!
So I was inspired to share some other machine history.

This engine is not bad either.
It is not billet like Brians but rather based on Ford BDA cylinder heads.
The builder is Karl Erik Nilsson and he did this in 1975.
He raced RallyCross and this was a lot of inspiration to me.
Even if I took the choice of Porsche 911 head conversion instead a few years later.
+10 000 rpm is nice in a VW.

Cooling barrels, cam drive and many more items were cast or machined by Karl Erik.

As for Karl Eriks 4 valve head engine, it became popular in Swedish Rallycross and two engines were built using Saab 4 valve heads.
these were also turbocharged.

This seems to be a one man show and I do not know if you find it interesting or not?
I drop a few more pictures and we will see?

This one I know pretty well. It is mine. Here as a street version in my 67 beetle. Motec injected and a small turbo next to the bus automatic gearbox
