For a VW I always thought the BRE top fuel motor would be bad ass. The biggest problem I see with it right now is the tune is too aggressive for the parts. Back it off until you had consistency. Then step it up a little at a time.

Ultimately I want a 67 Belvedere HB III with a Sox and Martin 426 hemi
