Gas guage

Is there anyway to replace the cable on a bug gas gauge?

I pulled one apart and it looks like they are permanently crimped to gauge housing.

Any ideas or help?

Buy a new gauge, BFY or West Coast Metric has German ones in stock $30-40. Everybody seems to be selling the ones made in Mexico $12-16.
Can you post a link. I can't find any gas gauges on either site. I bid $150.00 on a German gauge last month on Ebay and it went for $275.00.

What!! For a regular gas gauge for a 61-67 bug? I hope not, you can buy those on the samba all day long for $20-30.
It was a NOS German VDO gauge date stamped 12/66 which is the month my car was made.
Stealth or All throttle. I have a used stock fuel guage and cable i would have no problem selling as i now have a fuel cell and do not need the stock guage. I would be open to offers.
I have a few, but they are not as nice as I would like. I've pondered buying a new Mexican "Gasolina" VDO gauge and swapping faces but I don't know how to get the needle off without destroying it. How is the trim on your gauge?
So i had good intentions, but i just went and looked at my gauge. The chrome has a couple marks in it and the needle has rubbed the face and has wore off the paint so there is now the line from empty to the 1/2 full mark that most used gauges have. I thought is was in a little better condition when i piped up and said i would sell it... Sorry
