With all the attention going to 8 second ProMod cars this past weekend, it might be easy to overlook Jason Lang's personal best with his wheel standing, crowd pleasing, new member of the 100mph club bus!

After some rather impressive wheel stands, one at about 35 degrees and a solid 48" off the ground, Jason managed top top the magical 'century mark' for mile per hour, finally securing that elusive 100+ mph time slip.

About the bus: Once a street bus, slowly evolving over the years into a trailered drag bus, Jason has been determined to keep the reduction boxes and spring plates. After adding No2 and a digital 7 box, then having a few issues along the way, he put together a new gameplan. Working with Ken Porter and doing some cryo stabilization treatments to the gears and castings, Jason found the next weak link and folded up not one, but two spring plates over the next 12 months. Parts and help from bus specialists Steve Philips at Wolfgang International, adding stiffener bars to the springplates, he was able to 'turn up the wick' this past week end, resulting in some impressing passes, 1.5x 60ft times, huge wheelies and 100mph plus.

Congratulations Jason!

Re: How 'bout that Dr agbus?

Crowd pleaser for sure! There is always a plethora of camera lens aimed at the DragBus each and every time it stages. Even those that couldn't care less about drag racing gets a kick out of Jason's unlikely race vehicle carrying the front end as it launches.
I have a bunch of video and stills from BOR 65 to use in a DragBus video that I have in que. Going triple digits for Jason was huge. First he went 102.xx and backed it up with a 103.xx
Still not his fastest in ET, but that's what the NO2 will do for you.....some big MPH.

DragBus Video coming soon!

Great to see Jason finally make the 100 MPH Club... most in the stands have never hit that mark in a sedan, let alone a bread box...Over the Tonne... Good on ya!

I almost forgot to mention the machine and engine assembly work by Ken Jansen Enterprises, alot of the prep work and the like over the years by Greg's VW Service... It has to warm your guys' hearts to see the Dragbus stand up like that...

Hey MagOO... I think the J-Dog needs a Viagra clock for the longest hang time of any type 2...

at Sacramento... during this century... with a guy named Jason behind the wheel... <notice how I preemptively avoided a pissing match when some guy from across the pond chimes in with a higher, longer wheelie in-a-bus story?>

When Jason and I spoke right before we ran each other in the finals At BUGO he was so elated about hitting the century mark he didn't care about anything else, win, lose, or break. He already had that elusive 100MPH time slip under his belt. Jason ran up to the tower to get his NHRA 100MPH club sticker for the back window.

Next time bring Bueller

I am probably Jason's biggest fan. It is so cool to see a RGB Bus kicking ass and pulling the wheels up. How would you like to go up against the DRAGBUS and not know how fast it is and have to go tell your buddy's that you got whipped by a VW Bus. PRICELESS

CONGRATS JASON

I must have that wrong... I looked at a bunch of timeslips that weekend and had sun-on-the-brain when I posted, but I know it was impressive for such a bulky vehicle

Great video Greg.

What are the specs on that bad bus anyways? I remember reading about it in the NASA races a few years ago and it looks like all the hard work is paying off.
