This is one of the first turbo cars I remember from back in the day. It was sponsored by BAE. There was a lot of cars running BAE turbos back then, but this car really looked and ran awesome. Loved it.

Colored windows aren't legal today? I did not know that, and if so it is a bummer.Dean N said:i dug the colored windows, wish we could do that now days.
Thats almost as much of a shame as it being totaled.Dominick Luppino said:It was sold and shipped to Japan
Bob McClure owned BAE and I guess the company folded after he was killed in a flying accident (to make things worse, the lady in the plane with him wasn't his wife...).1bad67 said:Who owned and whatever happened to BAE?

Welcome and great 1st post for sureCalKafer said:Hey Guys,
That was my brother Jim's Car. He built it from the ground up when i was about 10 years old. I went to every race , bug-in & bug-out.
The ironic thing is that after seeing that final pic of the crashed car. It looks just like it did when jim bought it out of a back yard for $10.00.
He was running a stock 1600 engine with a single weber sidedraft carb. BAE Turbo with nitrous oxide. He and Bob "BAE TURBO Bug" were actually
Brother in-laws. Mike Smith was his best friend and "Der California Kafer" Club Member. BTW you are correct that the lady in bobs plane was not his wife...
