since I posted these pics in '08, absolutely nothing has happened with this car. I finally decided that in order to actually drive it, I was going to have to hire out some of the work needed to complete the project. Last week I took the bug to Bryan at LateNightAirCooled in Chico, CA. Hopefully these guys can breath some life into it. I'll post as progress is made.

Re: OK, here it is

And Clint, your lack of a smiley emoticon following your post above leads me to believe you may be a bit miffed at our poking fun.

Nope. It's all good. ;D (there, is that better?)

Good call, whats the latest
Well, as some of you guys saw, Jeff N. has updated the engine with a new aluminum case and bumped the compression to 11:1. On sunday I picked it up from him in Redding and got it back to Bryan at LateNightAirCooled in Chico. They have been doing things like the wiring, brakes, installed the traction bar (fast fab) and pedal assembly (Pedal Works).
Next will be the powder coated engine tins fitted along with the rest of the engine top end. Then we'll fire the beast on their test stand and if all goes well, put it in the car.
Then it comes back to me for the final interior pieces and trim.

There's been a few hiccups but its all coming along.

Ok, the motor runs but the carbs need a little help. Also smoked the pertronix (sp) module almost right away. Since I can only work on the thing a couple hours a week, probably going to miss yet another bug-o with it. However, I'm not discouraged at all as things are actually getting done. Be on the road in no time.

We sell pertronix at work and one thing we tell our customers is if your doing major tuning replace the pertronix unit with points and cond. those things don't like having the key left on at all
Found that out the hard way. I'm just scrapping the entire 009 distributor in favor of a new CB Magnaspark unit.

Picking it up from LateNightAirCooled tomorrow afternoon/evening. The have completed all the wiring and light hook up, gauges connected, engine top end assembled and in the car, FastFab traction bar in, all the braided lines done, header and muffler on (required a little apron cutting), plus many other little tasks to get this thing on the road. Big thanks to them!
Took it for a quick spin the other night (under the cover of dark). It has a little giddyup to it!:snoopy: Thanks to Jeff N for the engine and transaxle assembly.
Once I have it home, i'll finish up the little bit of trim work it needs then stash it away so we're GTG for the next event. Probably Bug-O.
