Rather then cancel events, Sacramento Raceway will always try to get a race in.
In some cases wind or water perculating up through cracks in the racing service will force a decision to run 1/8th mile.
In addition to a few Wednesday night drags, the 38th Annual New Years Drags, the March 2nd and March 16th Chassisworks NHRA Series races have been run to the 1/8 mile mark in 2008.

So far as I am concerned, I think that option being excersised by the tracks can be a good thing... particularly when the other option is to cancel the event in the name of safety. In years past, more than one Sac Bug-O-Rama has been shortened to 1/8th mile, the same at a Phoenix Bug-O about 6 years ago after Allen Weis got blown around and went into the fence. In that case, I think the Super Street racers refused to continue the event as the gusts and sandy track persisted.
