The Famous "Mean Machine" ghia driven by Steve Timms was recently for sale. Not sure if it sold or not and the ad has been deleted.

Anyone know? Hope it didn't go overseas like allot of the others

I've found an add on The SAMBA, the well known MEAN MACHINE is for sale, the add didn't give much details and the price is $75,000$. Might be interesting!!!!!

Is that Ray Mejia's yellow and purple choptop bug in front of the Ghia?
Could that be at a VW Panic event? Looks like it. So it must be here in So Cal.
Yeah that was a few years ago at the panic. Gary Justice might know the guy and where the car is now. The Bugshack comes to mind.
The DeCoppen Bros had the Mean Machine for sale in the back of hotVWs June 1993 for $22,000.
Yeah, they don't run tose ads anymore. i bought Bad Attitude from one of those ads.
I always thought this car was one of the best looking drag cars ever! Here's a more recent shot of the car at Drag Day I believe with its Bug Shakk sponsorship. Either with its original two-tone paint or solid color it still rocks!

Here it is when I was racing it in 1990. Took the 1679cc engine out of my Ghia and put it in the DeCoppen Bros Ghia. Missed winning my first Wally with it by .004 of a second at a Division 6 race in Medford, OR. Two days of 113 degree temps and I was the only VW there.

Wow, that's cool Jim! I didn't know the car had any history prior to its two-tone Mean Machine point.

Awesome! Got any more stories? :eek:k:
That's about it for the Mean Machine. Got lots about my orange Ghia though.
