The Salt Air Affair (find us on Facebook!) had a GREAT turnout here in Salt Lake City on June 8th!

The Swapmeet/Breakfast at Blackline Racing was great, big crowd, we took over the complex with VW's parked everywhere! At 11:30am we all lined up and cruised to the park! 52 aircooled VW's took part in the cruise, what a great turnout! Since nobody other than me signed up for the Streetcar Challenge, we eliminated the freeway portion of the cruise and plugged up State Street with VW's for a few miles instead. That was great! I was in the front of the line, and couldn't see the end of the line in my mirror! I took a pic, and the break you see was because we all couldn't get through the traffic light!

I'm sorry I didn't get any pics of the Swap/Breakfast, it was a really good crowd!

We arrived at the park where we had the pavilion reserved. Unfortunately we don't get to reserve the parking lot so there were a few cars parked in there. "Shock and Horror" on the faces of the people that were there as a seemingly unending line of VW's kept rolling in from the main road! More cars showed up that didn't make the cruise, we ended up with 51 cars registered for the car show, almost 60 in total!

Like the breakfast, the car show was free, we gave a free BBQ lunch. I cooked up over 100 burgers, almost 50 hot dogs, served out countless bottles of water, dozens and dozens of bags of chips, etc. And it appears it was "just enough". We had two big park grills going to keep up with the demand! It was great. We had enough trees to hang out under the shade on the edges of the parking lot, everyone seemed to have a great time!

We will have to start looking for a park to reserve for next year to see if one is available. We filled this one to capacity. The bigger parks are already being reserved so we will have to act fast on getting one now to be ready for next year.

Next year will be bigger and better, we've already started talking about what changes/upgrades to make. We only had one MSVWRA family from out of state take part in the full SaltAir Affair, Matt Rarick and Katie Beal. They ended up taking home one of the "Sponsors Choice" awards for their race car "Bare Bones"! It had the raw race car feel that the sponsors loved! Way to go guys!

Big thanks to the sponsors of the Saturday event that made it all possible! Blackline Racing, Salt City Heating and Air, Aircooled.Net, and KingKuda Designs! We all worked great together, and are excited to make it all happen again next year!

Well done on all accounts.

I had the chance to speak to Eric at the track. Sorry about the jet car episode ( Fire ). Encouraged him to keep fighting! Saturday, the Gathering at Blackline was awesome! Justin and Coulton took some time to show me around the shop and we had time to talk about the VW community. We have to work to keep VW alive in the Mountain Areas. The race event went well and the track manager, Ron, was pleased....thank you RMR. Thank you MSVWRA members and supporters.

Glad to see Matt and his sweety holding up the MSVWRA at the afternoon event. Looks like a great time was had by all. The Madson clan had to get up to a soccer event in Park City, otherwise we would have mixed it up with the folks. Speaking to other MSVWRA racers, I knew they had big drives home to Denver and New Mexico. That is the bad part about the Mountain VW community...we are spread out.

Next stop......Denver, Sunday July 29th. Bandimere Bug In. Racing, car show and swap meet. The only all VW event in the Rocky Mountain area.

Looking forward to a repeat in Salt Lake ...2014!

Dont forget...we have a good time out here and the Coors Brewery is open for you out of state visitors. I know the Cali guys made that a favorite stop when the PRA came East. I think Muffler Mike signed the walls...LOL.
