What is everyone using for spring plate bushings?

I want to check and possibly change my spring plate bushings. What is everyone using? I don't like the idea of the urethane bushings cause they usually squeak and crack after time. Are the stock rubber ones good enough for a high hp motor?

Use urethane and coat them well with white lithium grease. Yer golden.
I've been using the stock ones for a long time.... I'm gonna swap to something more solid....
Are you going with urethane?
Urethane usually needs to be clearanced for the weld on the spring plates. They are already beveled to clear most of it, but test fitting it and making sure the bushings sit all the way against the spring plate and pivot where they need to without interferance with the weld is critical.

It's the people that just throw them on fresh out of the package that end up with the squeaky suspension.

Thats helpful for sure thanks
BUGPACK offers 2 differant durometers (hardness) for springplates. I used the softer units http://bugpack.com/content.php?id=593 for the inners for less road noise transfer and the harder units http://bugpack.com/content.php?id=594 for the outers to provide stability on my street car. Also offered is a grease packet part # 19-1750 that consists of a waterproof teflon lube that eliminates any and all squeaks providing all components are cleaned and free from contaminants. The hard durometer inners usually require some hand fitting as Eric stated, however the softer inners went on with no problem.

Yup.... I hope I don't screw anything up... I've had such great luck with what I have right now....
Wow, thanks for the pics pfer10! I didn't realize it needed to be modified that much.

That was from the local crappy EMPI dealer. I hear the Bugpack ones are a much better fit. I have to deal with the buggy ****s around here so EMPI is all I can get unless I special order. Anymore I just order the stuff myself.
what did you grind the urethane with?
I've got some of these that I've been lagging on installing

Got a die grinder? Or even a Dremel tool with a grinder bit? Or even Grandpa's old pocket knife? ;)
nope,yes and yes

damn motor in the ford that I have to do before I can even look at my car

grumble

:(
Those pics were for IRS application only right?
I instaled a set of the red urethane ones about eight years ago on my car (swing axle) and i was one those guys who just slapped em in.. I dont remember trimming them.. Maybe i got lucky with that. I have adjusted the ride height recently and inspected the bushings and they were fine. Still rocking em. They dont squeek. I do have aftermarket spring plates and caps. The LUBE is a must. Nobody likes a dry hole.

And Jason good question becasue i think back in the day or maybe even present also, Alot of the urethane stuff did squeek. Maybe it was another LUBE problem. But the LUBE in these cases was only temporary. Maybe a CLEARENCE issue then. You know the seals on the front beam at the trailing arms. I only run the rubber ones there.
Lmao, "nobody likes a dry hole."
