Ever notice that back in the day (even before me) there used to be allot of VW wheelstanders, but now you never see even one?

Why is that? I would think it would be a good attraction to any event for any promoter to add something special to their shows!

In all my years in the hobby (since 1979) I have NEVER seen a VW wheelstander at an event.

Whoa--- I had no idea there were so many! Ahh, the good ol' days at the dragstrip.... lots of fun exhibition stuff. Now? We're lucky if we get a push-drags or an engine blow. Yippee skippee.

Those wheelstanders have gotta be somewhere, sure would be cool to get ahold of one and campaign it for the crowds. The ACVW drag racing hobby needs some more stuff like that to re-energize the spectators. Even if someone had one ready to go, you think the current crop of promotors would shell out for it?

Some where in my pile of pictures, I have a shot of a bug wheelstander at one of the early BOR events. It had dragster/funny car width rear wheels. If I can find it, I will post it here.

Wow, I didn't know there were so many from back in the day. Cool pics Brian.

Maybe a bit off topic but my favorite run of all time was watching Madson when he had the Coupe yank the wheels through 3 gears. I believe it was 2006 at BOR on a Saturday TNT.
Funny thing about that run......I was sitting next to my buddies daughter Megan who was probably about 7 years old at the time. It was like a magic moment we spent together. She was saying "Wow! Did you see that!". Here I am blown away by what I just witnessed and little Megan was just as thrilled as I was.
Just goes to show watching a guy like Eric perform has no age boundries.
