Will a full body Pro Mod car ever run in the 7 second range in the 1/4 mile?

Man, that will be the day. I still see a wheelbase issue, weight issue and big balls issue. OK some of us are still that stupid. Who ever has feeling below the neck while driving a Pro Mod? Somethings just cant be worried about while at the track.
Well I remember back when the top fuel dragsters were doing 6s and thinking they were never going to get any faster, and now the record is 4.428.
I see it happening at some time. You unlimited VW guys have been making great strides in the low et and top speed dept for years now.
I agree that the power will be there..... The car still stays the same and that may become the problem.....
I agree with buggdude because it took time to discover power, traction, aerodynamics, and so on. My vision is a chopped and channeled single cab with a huge rear end and a massive flat four. Four valves per cylinder, nitro methane, and super charger will make it go down the track in less than 8 seconds. That’s the day I want to live to.
Yep,maybe if the aerodynamics regs were relaxed more, and with clutch mangement making great strides in controlling the power it will happen :)

Couldn't agree more. Technology has progressed vastly over the years and its only a matter of time. Never say never.

The upside is the temp in Sac is supposed to be a lot lower than the normal 100 plus, so it should be better for the cars.

The downside is, not as many pro mod cars making it to the race.

I look forward to seeing some good racing, pro mod 7s or not.
It was not until the mid sixties a TOP FUEL car was able to get into the sevens with any consistancy...It was not until 1965 that major national meets were in the sevens...1968 saw the sixes become comeplace...gary beck won the nationals in 1973 I think with five ninty something...19789 to 1990 the cars got into the 4s on aregular basis... Took another ten years with a tweak here a tweak there to get mid fours... so yes, I think it is possible to see a7 but not for aLOOOONNNGGGG time...Records a just a target .. in the early days of drag raqcing brilliant analitical minds in the science aned math fields came to the conclusion that the absolute limit was about 9.50 seconds at about 150 mph .. NO WAY ON EARTH THAT ANY CAR WOULD GO FASTER OR QUICKER .. They said it was a physical imposibilty .. REALLY...
Maybe not at a pra event, but the Baron will be running until it runs a Seven second pass. U can quote me on that. Eric

The wheelbase is not a problem, picture a 2,500 HP Anglia with about the same wheelbase as a VW making high six to low 7 second passes. I know two guys in the area that have almost identical cars doing it. below is one of them.

Yeah but they actually have suspension that works and a REAL tire under them. :hrmm:
There is no reason a bug could not have a 12" tire with 3" wider fenders and narrowed axles. Suspension is the biggest limitation but I think a sub seven will happen in the next couple of years.
I dont think it will under the current rules and/or at a VW/PRA event.
I have been in discussion with a interested party about using one our monster engines

Woohoo! Let's see, a Pro Mod car would only have to weigh like 5000 LB to be PRA legal lol
