Where to put diode so my kill switch works

When I first built my car it didn't have a generator, and my kill switch killed the engine. I have since added a generator and now the kill switch doesn't shut the engine off with the kill switch. I have a feeling the generator is backfeeding and making it's own power. Someone told me that I need to add a diode in the circuit and that will solve the problem, but where?

If you move the B+ wire from the ALT/Gen to the battery side of your ON/OFF switch NO DIODE is needed. Thats how I have my car wired worked perfect for the teck dude last weekend at Bug IN.

Battery/Alt~Gen ------ ON / OFF ------ Car power
